The Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel, steam train and pool facility included, are open for business. Regardless of the time of the year, abundance or scarcity of rain or mandatory water restrictions, the Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel implements ways to conserve water, fuel and tread lightly on the landscape. From 2008 to 2013, Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel has successfully reduced water consumption by 60 percent and continues conservation efforts. Ongoing initiatives include, but are not limited to: drip system irrigation with non-potable water, rain harvesting from roof of loco and fray marcos, use of harvested water for steam locomotives when possible, waterless and high efficiency urinals, low flow showers and dual flush toilets.
